Shutterbug News covers photographic practice, people, equipment and industry developments. These standards guide new reporting and corrections.
Sources and verification
Product announcements should link to the manufacturer or another identifiable primary source. Release schedules, specifications and performance claims must be attributed. An announcement is not a hands-on review; tested findings should describe what was evaluated.
Dates and corrections
Retain the original publication date. Material updates should carry a separate updated date and explain what changed. Correct errors without concealing the substance of the correction.
Images and attribution
Use photographs with permission and appropriate credits. Describe substantial manipulation or synthetic imagery when it affects a reader’s understanding. Do not present a composite or generated scene as an unaltered documentary photograph.
Independence and disclosure
Label advertising and sponsored material clearly. Disclose material relationships, supplied equipment and affiliate links when applicable. Distinguish reporting, opinion and promotional claims.
Photographer submissions
Submitting a project does not guarantee publication. Editors must confirm image selection, credit and permitted use before publication.
